Over a 20 year span, Hal played on 8 “Record Of The Year” Grammy Award winners, 40 Number One Hits, more than 150 Top Ten Hits and thousands of other records, movies, commercials and TV shows. Hal single-handedly defined the term “studio drummer” and he was instrumental in first recording the single-headed “concert” toms.
Hal recorded hits with Frank Sinatra, The Beach Boys, Simon & Garfunkel, The Mamas & Papas, The Fifth Dimension, Sonny & Cher, Elvis Presley, The Byrds, The Association, The Carpenters and many more. He was inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 2000. By any measure, Hal Blaine was one of the most successful and influential drummers of all time. In fact, Hal played on so many rock and pop hits that drummer Bruce Gary once remarked how shocked he was to learn that 6 of his favorite drummers were Hal Blaine.
