In this must-see episode of “The Art Of Drumming” with Terry Bozzio, drummer/percussionist Alex Acuña tells the story of how, after moving to the States and working with Elvis Presley, Diana Ross, the Temptations and others in the early 1970s, he was invited to audition for the jazz-fusion group, Weather Report. At the time, the band’s line-up included legendary musicians Joe Zawinul, Wayne Shorter, Jaco Pastorius and Don Alias. Alex passed the audition and toured the world with the band. He was later featured on Weather Report’s landmark album “Heavy Weather”, which included the jazz classic “Birdland” and became one of the most important and influential records in the history of American music.
