Basic Background Info
Ulf Stricker's parents kept their impressive record collection on a nonstop rotation in theirhome. They completely immersed Ulf in a wide range of music as a young child.
After taking lessons reading and performing music, Ulf Stricker began playing the piano when he was six years old. Four years later, Ulf Stricker joined the Hilden Youth Symphonic Orchestra as their triangle and cymbal player. The Orchestra's timpani player began mentoring Ulf, and soon he was playing the snare, timpani and, mallets. At the same time, Ulf Stricker continued to expertly play the piano and received awards for his skill.
As he matured, Ulf Stricker gravitated towards rock and jazz, leaving classical and symphony behind. Ulf Stricker eventually abandoned the piano and began to focus primarily on the drums. Ulf Stricker traveled away from his native Germany and enrolled at the Arnheim Institute of Arts in the Netherlands. Ulf learned from well-respected masters of percussion RenÈ Creemers and Joop van Erven. They taught him to incorporate a variety of percussion instruments into fundamental drum rhythms. Upon his graduation in 2001, Ulf became a professional drummer and teacher. Five years later Ulf Stricker released his own instructional DVD.
Ulf Stricker has accompanied artists such as Bob Mintzer, Peter Weniger, Manfred Brundell, Roy Louis, Kelly Clarkson, Dave Weckl, Horacio Hernandez, Thomas Lang, Gavin Harrison, and Kirk Covington.
Ulf Stricker's performances often incorporate both indigenous acoustic percussion instruments and electronic samplers. His array of musical inputs allows for a diverse sound that is almost unmatchable.
