The highlights of British drummer Steve White's career include extensive work with Paul Weller and The Style Council.

Steve White's uncle gave young Steve a small drum, and after joining a local boy's brigade, Steve learned to play. Steve White's family, especially his parents, supported Steveís musical ambition and always helped him realize his goals.

Steveís musical education included listening to and watching Buddy Rich and Louie Bellson, as well as lessons from Bob Armstrong. Steve also learned by playing with local bands and collecting jazz records.

In 1983, Steve White started performing Paul Wellerís group, The Style Council. Paul immediately invited Steve White to play with the band, but Steve never became an official member. Nonetheless, Steve White performed on nearly all Style Council recordings and in most of their videos.

After five years with the Style Council, Steve White left the band. Subsequently, he played with Ian Dury and the Jazz Renegades. However, in 1990 Steve joined Paul Weller for his solo projects. Steve still plays with Paul Weller today.

Steve White is also a member of The Players with former Style Council keyboardist Mick Talbot and former Ocean Colour Scene bassist Damon Minchella.
