Biography

A native of Los Angeles, Mark Schulman became interested in playing the drums after he watched The Beatles on television with his family when he was three years old. Ringo's performance behind the drum kit resonated with Mark Schulman; the girls screaming wildly at the band didn't hurt either.

Two years later Mark Schulman finally sat behind a drum kit; he snuck onto the kit while his teenaged neighbor took a break from practicing with his band. Mark can still recall the beat he played that day; "I very quietly played a drum beat. Somehow, I knew exactly what to do. This groove chose me, I did not choose it." Nonetheless, Mark Schulman studied the cello as a teenager and performed with the Los Angeles Junior Philharmonic.

Mark Schulman has shared the stage with a plethora of talented musicians, whether they perform rock, pop, or jazz. From 1992-1995 and again from 2000-2000, Mark performed with the legendary arena rock band Foreigner. Mark Schulman has also performed with Sheryl Crow, Celine Dion, Stevie Nicks, Destinyís Child, Billy Idol, Cher, and international acts Udo Lindenberg and Eikichi Yazawa. Mark Schulman also joined both Velvet Revolver and Simple Minds for festival performances. Most recently, Mark toured with pop-sensation Pink throughout North American, Europe, Australia, Africa, and the Middle East.

Mark Schulman has also written and produced films, television shows, commercials, and radio jingles for McDonald's, Mattel, IBM, Sony, Acura, Neutrogena, Honda, The Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, The Sopranos, and Speed, among others.

Mark Schulman has also shared his expertise with students as an instructor. He taught at the now Los Angeles College of Music (previously LA Music Academy) and has regularly offered clinics around the world.
