Basic Background Info
Johnny Rabb is The World’s Fastest Drummer. Guinness World Records documented Rabb’s 1,071 single strokes in one minute during a live broadcast on VH1.
Born in Virginia in 1972, Johnny Rabb began drumming when he was just three years old and hasn’t stopped. When he was four, Johnny Rabb's family moved to Sacramento, California. He studied at the Berklee College of Music and earned dual degrees in Education and Performance. After college, Johnny Rabb returned to California and worked on a successful hip hop project.
Shortly thereafter, Johnny Rabb relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, where he performed with Hank Williams III, Billy Yates, and Tanya Tucker. After one year, he was dropped from Tanya Tucker’s tour. Johnny said, “I was new at touring, and I was very timid. I think that played a role in my being let go.” However, being let go ultimately inspired Johnny Rabb to design and develop his own line of drumsticks and company, the Johnny Rabb Drumstick Company. The company now boasts more than 100 models, all based off Johnny Rabb's original design.
Johnny Rabb is also an active clinical instructor and an author of instructional materials. Johnny Rabb offers hundreds of clinics each year. Johnny Rabb's first book, The Official Freehand Technique, is a unique method book that outlines how to play with just one hand.
Currently, Johnny Rabb performs with his original duo, the Ten Finger Orchestra & Johnny Rabb, his rock band U.S.S.A., and BioDiesel. Recently, Johnny experimented with turntables and has added them to many of his performances, calling his setup DrumJockey. He also performs with Japanese artist MASAKing and drum jockey Chris Patterson.
