Biography

 
 
Billy Ashbaugh got a relatively late start in the world of drumming he didn't start drumming until he was fifteen. Within three short years, Billy Ashbaugh was playing professionally in local clubs.

Billy Ashbaugh's first big gig was a two-and-a-half year stint playing drums for SNAP. During this time, Billy Ashbaugh met manager Johnny Wright, who managed the group 'NSYNC. In 1998, Billy Ashbaugh was offered the chance to be their drummer. Billy Ashbaugh has since played on tour with Nelly, Gloria Estefan, Tim McGraw, Britney Spears, Jordan Knight, Samantha Mumba, Son By Four, Christopher Cross, and Pat Benetar.

In addition to touring, Billy Ashbaugh also dedicates a lot of his time to creating instructional videos and doing drum clinics. Billy Ashbaugh's latest project with drummer Bob Gatzen is START, a series of lectures and DVD videos aimed at sparking creativity in young children.

  • Billy met his wife Jenie (who is also a drummer) while they both played in a cover band in Miami. He was the drummer, and she played percussion.
  • Drum kits filled both bedrooms of their first apartment. They slept on roll-out mattresses on the living room floor for three years.
  • Billy conducted a series of drum clinics at elementary, middle, and high schools in St. Cloud, Florida in 2001. He received a key to the city in return for the community service.
