Adrian Ost was born in Southern California, but his parents moved to the Pacific Northwest shortly after he was born. Adrian Ost's family introduced him to jazz at a young age and encouraged his devotion to music. Adrian also listened to pop and rock as a student.

As a high school student, Adrian Ost enjoyed jazz, pop, and rock, and he joined any music program he could find. This dedication led to a jazz scholarship in college, where Adrian Ost pulled double-duty as a diligent student and drummer in a big band aboard overseas cruise ships.

After graduating from college, Adrian Ost left behind his small town roots and moved to Portland, hoping to break into the local rock scene. Within a year, Adrian Ost joined a major record label band and toured across the country. The increased exposure from the tour allowed Adrian to become acquainted with music industry powerhouses like Simon and Edsel of Dope. When the Dopes heard that Powerman 5000 was looking for a drummer, they introduced Adrian to frontman Spider.

Adrian Ost jetted to Los Angeles to audition for Spider, who immediately offered Adrian the gig. Adrian Ost's first recording with Powerman's, 2003 record Transform, blasted industrial metal currents and debuted at #25 on the Billboard chart. Their record label, DreamWorks, dissolved shortly after Transform's release.

Powerman's latest album, Destroy What You Enjoy, is an excellent demonstration of the band's ability to recover from chaos and tumult to create a triumphant album.
